Today marks the 5th day on our 5-week journey. So far this has been one of the most adventurous days yet. We left Belfast early in the morning and hopped on the Shamrock bus, which would be taking us all along the coast of Northern Ireland then back down to Dublin in three days. We stopped at 3 destinations today; one being Giants Causeway.
This place is known for its beautiful scenery overlooking the North Atlantic Ocean. To get to the top of the hills there were two routes, blue (easier) and red (hardest). We decided to take the red route which ran for miles along the edge full of hills and stairs. Although the red route seemed to be the best option at the time, my body will for sure be mad at me in the morning. Our second stop on the shamrock tour was the Dunluce Castle. At this stop our guide showed us what once was a beautiful castle home to MacDonell Family in 1620. She showed us the different rooms, the fireplace and the amenities of what was previous a luxurious Jacobean Mansion.
Although it was quite hard for me to imagine what it would’ve looked like since it is currently run down but seeing the illustrations makes it much easier to imagine. To conclude, our last stop before arriving at the hostel was the location where the Game of Thrones was filmed. Below you can see a picture of what the trees look like in a few of the episodes.
