Ready For My Close Up

By Emma Fleming

Okay, I have to start off by saying I lied. I lied when I said that Cambridge was my favorite day of the trip so far. Today we visited ITV studios where they film many shows such as talk shows similar to The View. All of the employees were so welcoming and eager to answer questions and interact with us, telling us their positions and what they do on a daily basis. What really appealed to me was when one of the employees said that every day was different.

Somewhere along the way, my friend Holly and I decided that we were going to start a talk show one day. We could have a little problem, though, because every time the camera came to us (which was one too many and a tad too zoomed for comfort) all we could think of to do was wave and laugh. We have a long road ahead of us but don’t worry you’ll see us somewhere, some day.

I’m finally famous

It was awesome to see all of the work that goes into a show. Five cameras, hundreds of lights and several crew members in order for the show to be flawless. A difference between live television in America and England is that in America there is a few second delay just in case something happens. In England, there is no delay so we got on to the topic of what happens if you choke on water or swear or something embarrassing happens. One person responded with “you laugh it off then when you get home thats when you cry”. I think my way would be quite opposite of that.

After two hours flew by, I did not want to leave this place, but a crepe was calling my name. That’s enough to persuade me. Walking out, we saw where all of the celebrities sit before the show, the editing room and where they keep all of the props.

Tomorrow is a BIG day, people. We are headed to Warner Brothers and the Harry Potter exhibit!!
