Look ma, hands-on experience!

I have never been more grateful to receive a paper fan in my life.

Today might have been the best day of the trip so far. Why? Well, for one, we didn’t have to be at ITV studios until 2PM, meaning that I could sleep in for the first time in what feels like forever! After my much-needed beauty rest, I met up with my friend Rachel for lunch before heading off to ITV studios to visit the set of “Loose Women,” a British mid-morning television show aimed at a female audience.

When I first visited the soundstages in the ComArts building, I thought I had seen all there is to see in a television set. But after visiting ITV this afternoon, I realize that MSU’s facilities are, to be honest, lackluster (sorry MSU). ITV had it all; from the lights to the props to the crew to the cameras, every single piece of equipment was high-end and blew my socks off.

I had the wonderful opportunity to be able to operate the professional cameras used by the Loose Women crew, and boy, was that life-changing. I probably learned more in those twenty minutes of talking to the camera operator than I did in all of CAS 201 and 202. Although I’m switching from Media and Information to Advertising, I still have a passion for videography and found today’s visit to be incredibly insightful.

When we got back from our visit, it was back to bed for me! I accidentally slept for about 3 hours longer than I intended to. At least I’m caught up now! Tomorrow we set off for the Harry Potter exhibit at Warner Brother Studios; I can’t wait!
