Reporting Live From Glasgow

By Morgan Lauer

I cannot believe that this is one of my last posts from the trip. It’s hard to believe that we have been in Europe for five weeks already! It seems like yesterday that I was anxiously waiting for my plane to land in Belfast, and here we are only three days away from flying home. This has been the trip of a lifetime and one of the best experiences of my life (but more on that later).

Today we were fortunate enough to visit Glasgow and BBC Scotland. We were welcomed with a delicious spread of treats and coffee. Ian, an employee, told us stories and spoke to us about the history of BBC. He was very knowledgable and informative. The company is very prideful of its success and what they do.

We were given a tour of the building. It was all very open, there were no single cubicles or offices. This is the way the employees designed it to fit their preferred work environment. We saw the main studio which was enormous; made to be able to accommodate any type of event. We also saw a smaller studio where they do the news and weather. Some of us took pictures in front of the screens, but unfortunately they were about to begin filming, so not everyone could get a picture.

After the tour we had lunch and explored the shopping area (of course) of Glasgow, and I spent a little too much money in Zara. Oops!
